Former Abia PDP Guber Candidate, Prof Ikonne, Set To Be Buried

All is now set for the former People’s Democratic Party (PDP), gubernatorial candidate, Prof Uche Ikonne, to be laid to rest in his hometown in Agburuike, Nsulu, Isialangwa North Local Government Area of Abia.

Prof Uche Ikonne who passed on the 25th of January 2023, following a brief illness, would be committed to mother earth come Friday, the 28th of April 2023.

The week long funeral activities would begin on Monday, April 24, 2023, with a Singsong service organised by the Church of Good Shepherd (CGS), Ehimiri, Council of Knights and Ladies, Umuahia Diocese, Association of Ngwa Knights and Ladies, Umuahia and the Christian Men’s Fellowship, World Bank Archdeaconry, at his Umuahia residence, followed by a Colloquium and Day of Tributes at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, on Tuesday, 25th of April.

According to the Obituary Announcement signed by the first son of the deceased, Dr Chike Uche-Ikonne, there would be a Valedictory Senate session at Abia State University, Uturu on Wednesday, April 26, followed by a Singsong organised by the Nigerian Optometric Association.

According to the Release, the former Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, would be laid to rest on Friday,28th of April, with a Commendation Service by CGS, Ehimiri, Umuahia,while the Funeral service will hold at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Agburuike, Nsulu, thereafter, Interment at the Bethel House, Agburuike, Nsulu.

Meanwhile, the funeral thanksgiving holds on Sunday,April 30, at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Agburuike.

The family, however, described the late Prof Ikonne as a great man who lived and died as one, saying that they take solace in the fact that, his love, guidance and wisdom would always be part of them. As what they once enjoyed cannot be lost and all that they love deeply, has become part of them.
