Umuahia South Partners ATPN For 2025 Cultural Festival, Face of Umuahia South

The Umuahia South Local Government Area in collaboration with the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN), is set to host the 2025 Umuahia South Cultural Festival/Face of Umuahia South.

 

 

The two-day event, which is aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Umuahia South, would take place on the 28th and 29th of December, 2025 at the Council Headquarters.

 

 

Addressing Newsmen in Umuahia, the Vice President of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria, South East Zone, Amb Onyekachi Atulomah Love day, explained that the event is basically to unveil cultural traditions that Umuahia South is known for, including food, dance and traditional attire.

 

According to the Tourism Ambassador, the festival would also feature a beauty pageant to present young women who are not only physically attractive but also intelligent, morally sound, and capable of representing the state in larger pageantry competitions. She noted that the first of its kind initiative is being organized by the Mayor of Umuahia South LGA, Engr. Chinedu Enwereuzo.

 

 

Revealing details of the event, Amb Loveday disclosed that since it’s a two day event, the first day would be a road show to intimate Abians and all lovers of culture about the event, while the Face of Umuahia South Pageant would cap the day.

 

She said the second day would be the cultural festival, where everyone would appear in their traditional outfits, including visitors and invited guests.

 

 

The ATPN Vice President also revealed that there are plans to extend the cultural event to all 17 Local Government Areas of the State, with Umuahia South as the pioneer host, since she is from there.

She added that the Face of Umuahia South Beauty pageantry would attract a registration fee of two thousand naira(2,000) only, with juicy prizes to be won. ” First Prize winner will go home with the sum of five hundred thousand naira(#500,000), while the first runner up, four hundred thousand naira (#400,000), and second runner up, three hundred thousand naira (#300,000), as well as, other consolation prizes”.

 

While calling for partnerships, from the government, companies and good spirited individuals, Amb Loveday reiterated that the event was not partisan, therefore, everyone across the different political platforms can attend, stressing that culture does not recognize political affiliations.

 

She also appealed to the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, to revive the Tourism Board and as well, make meaningful investment in the sector, so that the tourism business in Abia could bounce, adding that tourism has the potential of attracting huge revenue to the state if properly harnessed.
