The restoration of the Management Sciences programmes—delisted in the 2016/2017 session—did not emerge by chance; it was the fruit of tireless advocacy, legislative ingenuity, and masterful navigation of institutional complexities. Where others saw a deadlock, Onuigbo envisioned a renaissance; where silence prevailed, he raised a clarion call that reverberated through the corridors of power until justice was done.

Professor John Uzoma Ihendinihu, whose profound 62nd Inaugural Lecture, Entropy of Injustice, not only articulated the inequities of tax administration but also immortalized this restoration as a “restoration of hope.” His scholarly depth reminds us that academia and advocacy are twin forces of transformation.
Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, the Vice-Chancellor whose visionary stewardship and relentless engagement with regulatory bodies secured the institutional rebirth.

Yet, at the center of this grand orchestration stands Hon. Sam Onuigbo, the indomitable son of Umuahia, whose legislative dexterity transformed a nine-year-old injustice into a victory for generations unborn. His stewardship exemplifies the rare blend of political sagacity and altruistic devotion—qualities that elevate leadership from the ordinary to the sublime.
This triumph is more than an academic milestone. It is a symbolic reclamation of equity, a vindication of persistence, and a testament that purposeful advocacy can indeed bend the arc of history toward justice.
To Hon. Onuigbo, we say: your name has become synonymous with resilience, your legacy interwoven with the destiny of countless students who will now chart their future under the restored banner of Management Sciences at MOUAU.
As Prof. Ihendinihu himself affirmed in his lecture: “I must also, in very strong terms, commend the extraordinary commitment and tenacious support of Hon. Sam Onuigbo, whose steadfast solidarity with the College (right from the time when I was the Dean of the College) was pivotal in this success story. He championed our cause in the legislative house, engaged tirelessly with all relevant regulatory bodies (persistently refused to give up), and firmly backed the strategic actions of the University management. His selfless intervention and relentless advocacy played a crucial role in achieving the recent remarkable restoration of the delisted programmes on the JAMB portal.”
And with prophetic foresight, he concluded: “MOUAU’s revitalised business education framework will position the university as a hub for innovative and interdisciplinary learning, aligning with both national and global standards.
