President Tinubu replaces Obinna Oriaku As Abia’s Federal character Commissioner

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a fresh nomination to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Victor Ikeji as the Federal Character Commission commissioner representing Abia State.

 

The request was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during Thursday’s plenary session.

 

Tinubu explained that the nomination was made pursuant to Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

 

The President stated that Ikeji would replace Obinna Oriaku, who was previously nominated in a letter dated October 9.

 

The President urged the upper chamber to “consider and confirm the appointment of Victor Ikeji as commissioner of the Federal Character Commission.

 

Akpabio subsequently referred the nomination to the Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Relations, directing the panel to report back within one week.
