We Must Continue to Seek Fairness and Justice In Our Society ~Anyaso Declares, As He Mourns Ako, Who Reportedly Died In Police Custody
Residents of Bende Local Government Area in Abia State have been thrown into grief as philanthropist and Chairman of CAADES Group, Dr Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, paid condolence visits to families mourning two separate losses in the community.
Dr Anyaso first visited the family of Late Wisdom Okorie Akobundu of Ozuitem, who reportedly died in police custody after being invited for questioning at the Bende Police Division. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, sparking concerns and calls for a thorough investigation.
Moved by reports circulating online, Dr Anyaso described the incident as heartbreaking and emphasised the value of every human life.
This incident reminds us how precious every life is, he said during the visit. No family deserves such pain. We must continue to seek fairness and justice in our society.
The deceased’s elder brother, Mr Okorie Festus, who spoke on behalf of the family, expressed sorrow and appealed for justice.
We are a peaceful family and we believe in integrity. We only want justice, not just for our brother but so that no other family would face such a painful experience, he stated.
Dr Anyaso was accompanied by respected traditional and community figures including Eze Patrick Ude, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, Pastor Okechukwu Dike, Mrs Arisa Okparaigbo and other Bende stakeholders.
Dr Anyaso equally visited the family of Late Reverend Okor Nwachukwu Ema of Ibinaukwu, Igbere.
