Iriji Ofuji 2025: Again, Anyaso Awards More Scholarship Support to Students, Says Festivities Without Touching Lives Are Mere Jamboree
OFUJI, the name many call Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyasọ – CDA, transcends mere appellation; it serves as a poignant reminder of what the daily life of Abia State born and Vanguard Awards “Real Estate Icon of the Year 2024” winner symbolizes.
Just as “JI; YAM” is prominently celebrated as the paramount crop in Igboland, the term OFUJI (One Tuber of Yam ) means and reminds us to partake in the celebration; to generously share whatever bounty we possess with others in a spirit of love, and to express our gratitude to God for His abundant blessings.
This is the very essence that inspired Chima Anyasọ to commemorate IRI JI OFUJI alongside his Birthday yearly in his beloved “Igboland” home state of Abia.
Chima embodies the meaning of his name OFUJI (One Tuber of Yam that feeds many); the principle of selfless generosity, sharing whatever blessings he has with heartfelt compassion.
This commitment is a manifestation of his solemn vow to God, pledging to return eighty percent (80%) of all blessings bestowed upon him, thereby expressing profound gratitude to God for the abundance in his life.
Chima established the IRI-JI OFUJI Celebrations in 2022 as a platform for outreach, aimed at realization of his commitments to God.
He has once again demonstrated his unwavering dedication to uplifting the lives of those with whom he had once walked alongside, even in their absence, by visiting Mrs. Ogonna Obike, the widow of the late Kenneth Obike, and his children, bearing gifts of cash and food provisions. Furthermore, he extended his generosity to support two of his late ally’s 3 children, Kamsi, Obike and Obinna Kenneth Obike, who are currently in their secondary education with aspirations of advancing to university.
He also vowed to establish a lucrative enterprise for the widow, enabling her to adeptly manage the household of his ally and brother.
In his own words, Chima expressed that although he specifically returned to his home state to continue his birthday and his IRI JI OFUJI festivities, that any celebration devoid of meaningful impact on the lives of the people is merely a trifling endeavor.
In alignment with the IRI-JI OFUJI 2025 theme, “Celebration of Two Decades of Bountiful Harvest: The Role of Education and Training in Cultivating the Next Generation of Wealth Creators,” Chima, who regards education as the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge, has indeed exemplified to his admirers and followers the quintessence of the IRI JI Igbo culture. He imparts the importance of utilizing one’s blessings to effectuate meaningful change.
Ofuji through his engagements during the week long festival, deliberately taught the youth about our rich history, ensuring that Igbo culture continues to thrive and evolve.
“The younger ones should also know that without celebration, nobody will know the importance of our culture, and without coming together, our children will not know the significance of our culture. They will not be aware of why we do things or live the way we do” He added.
Truly, “but there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding”.
Chima Anyasọ has mirrored that word and everyone that followed his activities in the last 7 days will observe that the breath of the Almighty God which gives him understanding resides in him.
Lastly, GOD will say to him, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then OFUJI the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did i see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did I see you, a stranger and invited you in, or needed clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“GOD will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these (Nurses, Prisoners, Bende LGA Workers, Widows. Bende Men and Woman, Bende CAN Leadership, the Kings, All the People that were reached out to in all the 13 wards of Bende, Bende Youths, etc) brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
