The Abia State African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition Partners, have reaffirmed Don Norman Obinna as the authentic chairman of the party in the state.
This reaffirmation follows the resolution of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) agreement signed on December 18, 2024.
During the meeting held at Sir Chikwe Udensi’s residence in Abuja on Wednesday, the coalition partners warned Iyke Nwoke to cease referring to himself as the Abia State chairman of the party.
They stated that his actions were causing confusion and discouraging potential members from joining the party.
Sources indicated that a visibly furious Sir Udensi, threatened to have Nwoke arrested if he continued to disregard this directive.
It was reported that Udensi’s anger was due to a prior meeting held last month, at the home of one of the coalition partners, who is also a serving senator, in which they informed Mr Nwoke that Don Norman is the Abia State ADC chairman.
The coalition partners questioned Nwoke’s decision to return to Abia State and declare himself chairman after participating in the meeting where the NEC resolution and INEC ADR agreement had been reaffirmed.
However, the coalition partners encouraged Don Norman to engage with all members and to invite Iyke Nwoke to future stakeholders’ meetings.
The meeting was chaired by Comrade Nkem Ukandu, the ADC National Welfare Secretary, and was attended by several notable members of the Abia State ADC coalition.
