2027: South East Zonal PDP Vows To Equip Abia PDP For Optimal Performance
The South East Zone of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday paid an official visit to Abia State, reaffirming the party’s commitment to support Abia PDP with the needed tools and platforms for optimal performance.
The party highlighted revitalization, unity and strategic rebuilding of the PDP across the South East region as priority.
Addressing stakeholders at the PDP Secretariat in Umuahia, the South East Zonal Vice Chairman, Hon Chidiebere Goodluck, said the Zonal PDP is ready to equip Abia Chapter with relevant tools that reflect the realities of modern political engagement, especially in the era of digitalization.
Goodluck said the expanded regional executive of the party decided to visit Abia, not just for ceremonial purposes but to strategically reposition the party in Abia and the South East as a whole.
The South East Zonal Vice Chairman, lauded the glowing tributes of key political figures in Abia state, notably the immediate past Governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and Senator Austin Akobundu, who he described as the conscience of the party in the state, adding that their visible investment, commitment and loyalty to the PDP, remained the bedrock of the party’s strength in the region.
“I am here to assure you, on behalf of the Zonal Executive and our National leadership, that the PDP is undergoing a strategic and deliberate process of rebuilding.
“Yes, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges both internal discord and electoral disappointments, but the light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter. Make no mistake, we are bouncing back, and we are bouncing back stronger”.
He further extended commendations to the Abia PDP leadership, including the State Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, the State Working Committee, 17 LGA Chairmen, and the 184 Ward Chairmen and their Executives, lauding their efforts in sustaining the party’s presence and operations at the grassroots level.
As part of the rebuilding process, Hon Goodluck announced that new strategic committees would soon be constituted at all levels of the state executive, urging members of the state executive to focus on reconciliation, media engagement, electoral preparedness, policy formulation and grassroots mobilization.
Meanwhile, the zonal leader called on members to remain resolute in playing critical roles that would keep the flag of the party flying. “Your efforts, loyalty and endurance during both smooth and stormy seasons are the very backbone of our resilience”, he remarked.
Hon Goodluck, however, reaffirmed that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, remained the authentic National Secretary of the party and extended Anyanwu’s regard to the Abia PDP for their unwavering support and dedication.

In his remark, the Imo state chairman of the party, Rt Hon Austin Nwachukwu, announced that PDP has returned to its natural home in the South East, while reaffirming that Sen Samuel Anyanwu is the authentic National Secretary of the party and anyone parading as such, should desist forth with. He praised the chairman of the PDP in Abia, Elder Abraham, for piloting the affairs of the party successfully.
Contributing, the National Deputy Legal Adviser, Barr Okechukwu Osuoha, the South East Legal Adviser, Barr Ukpai Ukairo and the Zonal Organizing Secretary, Chief Mike Ahumibe, explained the Supreme Court ruling on the position of the National Secretary, stating that Anyanwu remains the original National Secretary.
They said the party is gradually receiving stability and would not relent until it takes over power.
Earlier, the Abia Chapter chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, commended the zonal executive on their working visit, which he said was historical, as it would help in deepening their message, as well as, collaborations.
Amah further highlighted that the PDP was doing credibly well in the state and is ready to gather more momentum to deliver optimally.

The party chairman also debunked the rumour making the rounds that the court had sacked all structures of the party, from ward to state level executive.
According to Amah, the court ruling was misinterpreted by a section of people, stating that there was no judgement or Certified True Copy(CTC), to the claim.
He said the party disregarded the misinterpretation until it received the CTC. ” We started waiting for the CTC from the 6th of May, 2025 and few days ago, we received the CTC. The Judgment was very clear and simple. No executive from ward to state level was disqualified.
“The Judgment only tried to disqualify our councillorship and Local Government chairmanship candidates of the last Local Government election. But for whatever reason that was done, we have decided to go to Appeal. Our Papers are ready, our Lawyers have filed all the necessary papers at the Bende High Court. By next week, the papers will be dropped at the court of Appeal in Owerri. Outside this, Abia PDP is doing very well”, he said.
Amah also recounted the tireless contributions of the former Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and the Senator representing Abia Central, Sen Austin Akobundu, to the party’s growth.
