As political activities continue to gain momentum ahead of the next general election, a former Chief of Staff to the ex-Governor of Abia State, Mascot Uzor Kalu, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Abia State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in an event in Umuahia on Saturday, Kalu promised to uphold financial transparency and ensure that the Abia State Government House fully returns to its rightful base in Umuahia, the state capital.

He explained that his decision to join the race was driven by a strong desire to deliver good governance, bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, and restore confidence in public administration across the state.

The APC stalwart also emphasized the need for peace and unity within the party, noting that the APC in Abia is blessed with capable and committed members who can secure victory in the next election.

Kalu assured that, if elected, local government allocations would be managed transparently and not diverted, adding that his administration would prioritize accountability and fairness.

He further expressed optimism that the APC in Abia would build on the popularity and achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration at the federal level to achieve electoral success in 2027.

Kalu urged all party members to work together in unity and commitment toward realizing the party’s goals for the state.
