The Young Progressive Party (YPP), Candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Comr Friday Ogbundiogu, has rolled out a six point Agenda for the people of Ikwuano/ Umuahia, if he is elected come 2023.

In a Press briefing in Umuahia , the YPP candidate, listed his agenda for the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia to include Quality representation, Accessibility,Youth empowerment,Health care system, Infrastructural development and Security.

According to him, his programmes when elected into the Green Chambers would center around the welfare of the people, lamenting how previous legislators from Ikwuano/Umuahia, had neglected the demands of the people.

He said when he comes on board,he would change the narrative of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency,as his first port of call would be the reconstruction of the Umuahia – Ikot Ekpene Road, which has been a death trap for years, adding that, he would strive to attract Federal presence to the road.

Giving reasons that spurred his decision to join the 2023 race alongside other political gladiators from different political parties,Comr Ogbundiogu, said he needed a platform he could reach out to a larger number of people, saying that eventhough he is a first timer in the race, going for any position other than the Federal House of Representatives, would amount to nothing.

In his word, “I didn’t go for State House of Assembly seat,as many thought, because a state constituency would only cater for a session of people. This is below my dream. I needed to affect as many people as i can.So the House of Representatives seat is more like the platform”,he said.

The YPP candidate also disclosed that he joined the race,so he could join hands with other progressives to create a change in Abia, interms of development, decrying the level of infrastructural decay in the state.

He pointed at some industries,as well as health facilities in Abia that have gone moribund and the need to revive them, so as to boost the economy situation of the state, stressing that he would make health care accessible and affordable for all, especially the elderly.

Ogbundiogu added that he is eager to recreate what he sees overseas in Ikwuano/Umuahia and as well, operate a particpatory system, where everyone would be fully involved in decision making.

He pointed that the issue of insecurity in the country would receive tough approach, stating that if the security situation in Nigeria is not addressed while as a Legislator, the Green Chambers would be closed down.

The Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal House candidate, however, advised for Nigerians to bring on board right leaders that could bring about positive changes in the nation come 2023, giving it as the only way to correct the wrong and  the current security challenges confronting the nation.

He further stated that the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia should do the right thing by voting in leaders that have the fear of God,leaders that are committed to their welfare and leaders that are not selfish.”For example, the PDP candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia, has been in the corridors of power for years, still the rot and ills in Abia increase daily.

“He is the Speaker of the House of Assembly, but workers/pensioners are being owed, roads are not fixed. What will he do differently if he goes to Abuja? He will abscond.

“Am not worried about him,as well as other candidates from other parties”.

While expressing confidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), would deliver his mandate by being unbiased in their process, just as in the case of the 2022  Osun Gubernatorial election, urged the INEC not to disappoint the confidence and trust reposed on them.
