Who will host the 2019 Grammy Awards?
Set to follow in the footsteps of comedian James Corden, who hosted the 2018 ceremony, Alicia Keys has been revealed to be this year’s host. While the artist may be making her hosting debut, she’s no stranger to the award show’s stage, having collected a total of 15 Grammys over the course of her career. “I know what it feels like to be on that stage and I know what it feels like to be proud of the work that you’ve put in and be recognised for it and I just feel grateful that,” Keys says in the announcement video shared to her YouTube channel. “And I’m able to bring that light and that energy. I feel like it’s the perfect opportunity for me to give the light back, lift people up, especially all the young women who are nominated. To me it feels like sister vibes.”
Who are the 2019 Grammy Award nominees?
The 2019 Grammy Award nominations, which were announced in early December, saw the likes of Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande snubbed from the biggest awards of the night. Beyoncé and Jay Z were also snubbed, Mac Miller was posthumously nominated for Best Rap Album and Kendrick Lamar and Drake led with eight and seven respective nods. How are the Grammy Award winners selected?
The Grammy Award winners are first nominated by the Recording Academy’s voting members, who must be professionals with creative or technical credits on at least six commercially released tracks. Said members then vote for winners in up to 15 categories within their area of expertise, together with the four General Field categories (read: Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best New Artist) before independent accounting firm Deloitte tallies the ballots.
